astrology

These texts date from 1978, but they apply without reservation also to this day. In the meantime in astrology nearly nothing has changed. The most important mental impulses to a renewal of astrology came by psychology already during the 70ies. During the 80ies only the calculations have simplified by computers. But this led in the 90ies to an overrating and abuse of automatic interpretations, and with it astrology has got again into a cul-de-sac.

Astrology has as little to do with the occult, mysticism and religion as any other science. The astrological view of life is basically concerned with the science of rhythms (cycles). This science of rhythms represents an ancient, but successful attempt to measure human life by cosmic standards, and to draw an analogy between the movements of the solar system and those forms of life existing within it. Since these experiments have been carried out for thousands of years, astrology in this regard is “superior” to every other science. By rejecting it as rubbish, one risks casting away valuable material; out of arrogance one labels as false the thoughts of generations. Our knowledge is also subject to change and thus never absolutely false, but is rather expanded and re-interpreted by each succeeding generation. By not honestly confronting the knowledge of our ancestors, we would be obstructing access to valuable information and insights. Only those who have learned to grasp and utilize the past, can develop themselves, because future knowledge is always based on that of the past to.

Since the earth's existence all earthly life has been subject to cosmic rhythms, the most visible being experienced in the changing of the seasons, the transition from day to night, sun and moon. Just as the knowledge of the incorporation of our lives in the cosmic movements has formed an essential part of human thought, we have lost our touch with these relationships through an alienated, technical way of life. The replacement of symbolic, religious modes of thinking by scientific thought, which only considers that which is measurable as existing, has contributed to the repression of thousands of years of experiences. Therefore, today we're hardly aware of the unity in the play of forces, which pulsate through the whole cosmos, through humans, animals, plants and stones. Our thinking is in its intellectual and scientific character isolated and impoverished.

In the same sense that our life is subjected to cosmic rhythms, so it is our psyche, and subsequently our fate. Astrology, the most important of the ancient sciences, concerns itself with this problem, since its roots reach bock through antiquity as far as the Stone Age. Because up to Renaissance the arts and humanities weren't separated from the natural sciences, both Copernicus and Kepler engaged in astrology - even Newton dealt with astrological questions. Confined by religious, social and economic necessities, which impeded their self-organisation, the people of the 19th and 20th century wanted to become masters of their destiny through natural science. With the progressive individualisation and self liberation of human beings, traditional astrology became an obstacle because of its inflexible, fatalistic determination of one's fate. Not wishing to argue its case against the new scientific school, astrology was rudely pushed aside. As a result it soon degenerated in to fortune telling, horoscopes at fairs and in magazines - and recently to questionable computer horoscopes a modem form of technical superstition.

When one considers the classical astrological view of the world, when one knows the view of the world as seen by modem physics, when one preoccupies oneself with results of modem research in the field of cosmic and electromagnetic radiation and its effect on brain functions and heredity, with the influence of sun spots on biological processes, when one feels the poverty of our world in regard to reflection and transcendence - then a synopsis of humans and cosmos becomes once more thinkable.

In the last few decade psychology, sociology and medicine have decisively changed our concepts of human behaviour. If one wants to investigate the present value of astrology, older knowledge must be measured by new information, and symbolic thinking joined to that of the natural sciences. However, one should not expect a result in the form of a precisely measurable quantity when one is trying to fathom the depths of the psyche, since a science of the human soul would fail to see the true essence of the human personality. It would be naive to believe that science could reduce the human soul to numbers and formulas. Even psychology can only describe and compare the human soul. In fact, the psychological domain escapes the methods of scientific research, and even statistics are questionable in the understanding of exact sciences.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, astrology has been cleansed of mysticism and superstition by doctors and psychologists, and as much as possible, been subjected to statistical research, which, because of lack of funding, is far too limited to allow intensive research. The aim of the research results seem to question the emancipatory thesis of human equality and thus, especially to public institutes, appear to be unworthy of support. As a result astrology isn't looked upon today as a real science. Recently, however, especially in the area of space travel and astro biology, new knowledge about the cosmic relativity of life has been obtained, which could lend a scientific basis to astrology.

The present kosmogen analysis is compiled by using traditional and the latest information and research methods. The date and time of birth, i.e. the position of the earth vis-à-vis the time of birth, are placed in a relationship to the planets and fixed stars. The tendency of attributes appearing in certain planetary positions and angles of inclination, which are based as far as this is possible in the psychic domain, on a statistical basis - has been combined and organised into a so-called transit calendar.

Among every 5 million persons, only 2 possess the same cosmic constellation. However, even from the same minute of birth and the same tendencies, people won't necessarily derive the same character or fate. Since every person has inherited a different genetic structure and is also subjected to a different environment, the basic character tendencies encounter various possibilities in reality, i.e., the same predisposition only leads to the same or similar fate under equal conditions. Thus, probable fates can be derived from certain character tendencies, which find themselves in the same cultural circles and milieu. First of all, astrological analysis only determines the tendency of an individual toward certain characteristics, but these tendencies will only appear when certain cosmic constellations, present at birth, repeat themselves. The respective predispositions then lose their latency and strive strongly toward realisation. Since the planetary orbits are known and calculable, there is a tendency to determine chronologically, i.e., the prognosis takes the form of a psychic weather prediction. It's also possible to relate the position of the constellations with the date of birth, so that one can conclude the probable relation between two people.

[X] Heredity, sex, free will, environment

An astrological analysis contains no mention of sex; the judgement as to the masculinity or femininity of certain tendencies can only be made when one also takes into account the culture, with its social environment and traditions, and thus the possibilities offered for the realisation of those specific predispositions. However, this reciprocal relationship of factors within and without an astrological analysis shouldn't lead to a smug sense of self apology, since it demands a critical attitude towards one's self.

The astrological analysis points out the basic theme concerning the “fate” of each respective person and indicates possible (dis-)harmony in regard to personal development. But in the final analysis heredity, environment and free will are essential in transforming this given then into reality. It is left to the person him-/ herself in which manner he or she wishes to deal with this innate theme and which solutions are decided upon. Each person is responsible for him-/herself. In order to obtain a prognosis which is usable at a personal level, it's also necessary to include events outside - for this reason a conversation with the Astrologist is recommended. Moreover, an astrological analysis can be an additional help in childrearing, choice of occupation, relations to one’s partner/ friends and in psychotherapy. The real sense of the prognosis lies in the development of one's self-determination and not in an exact interpretation of predictions or an attempt to relieve one of the burden of making his/ or her own decisions. A better self-organisation can be obtained through the realisation of one's possibilities and limitations - and those of other people too.

In order to better understand astro-psychological studies it's necessary to know that people not only bear the imprint of their environment and heredity, but that they also possess the possibility of making their own private decisions. Science can not yet and, probably never will be able to measure exactly the influence of heredity and environment on human behaviour, since the complexity of the reciprocal relationships is too extreme. Environmental influences as well as social relationships, education, childrearing, economics and politics are being researched by psychologists and sociologists. Nevertheless, human beings are also influenced by a number of environmental factors such as climate and nutrition, as well as radiation in the form of electricity, magnetic fields, ultra-violet radiation, radioactive rays, even though the effects of the latter have not yet been fully researched.

One can combine these various forms of radiation under the term "cosmic influences", since, in the end, they are basically of cosmic origin. In fact, even our climate has its origins in the cosmic regularity of the earth's rotation and its position vis-à-vis the sun. Because the greatest part of the radiation is neither visible nor audible and cannot be registered with any of our' five senses, it cannot thus be directly placed in a relationship to our own behaviour. Only a scientific evaluation of cosmic conditions and human behaviour can make visible possible connections between the two.

The human character is determined by a complex combination of heredity, social and cosmic environment, which results in a tendency to act in a specific manner. Thus, the cosmic environment determines merely a part of our tendency to behave in a particular manner, and only this part is researched in a kosmogen analysis. Every person is entirely free to influence conditions according to his or her own free will. In the case of negative tendencies, this can be of great value. Therefore, an astro-psychological prognosis shouldn't lead to a blind belief in fate but rather, on the contrary, it should train one to learn to deal with the own fate inside a framework of the own possibilities.

In order to apply the results at an individual level, it's necessary to include one's social situation and heredity - consequently, a conversation with an astrologist is advisable. If one has an interest in letting one's self be psychoanalysed, where astro-psychological aspects are also to be considered, one should turn to an analytical psychologist (of the C.G. Jung school) for help. But in a kosmogen analysis many special terms used in psychology are dispensed with, since their meanings often have quite a different content from those used in an astro-psychological sense and thus would impede the clearness of the text. (Sun = ego, Ascendant = instinct, Saturn = super-ego, Moon = Anima etc.).

[X] Basic ideas behind the prognosis

The prognosis (prediction) concerns itself with the pre-calculation of emotional conditions (readiness to certain actions) for a specific individual. These conditions are hardly perceived by the individual him-/herself. Some less sensitive people with less self-knowledge are scarcely able to consciously experience their emotions and emotional consensus with the world. Therefore it renders the use of such a prognosis more difficult - although a prognosis can lead to an increase in one's self-experience for most people. An examination of the prognosis and one's own experiences challenges man y people for the first time to examine their own psyche. However, the self-occupation presumes the necessary time and a relaxed attitude, investments which many people are not ready to make. In fact, they often take the attitude that the prognosis makes any reflection on their part superfluous, since future events have been already pre-calculated. This is not only impossible, but by no means corresponds to the true meaning of the prognosis. Since only the conditions can be predicted, the actions themselves must be created by those involved in that they act voluntarily - whereby it should be noted that the actions of a person also must be seen also in relation to his/her emotional situation at that time. Thus there exist those periods of time which are positive or negative for certain actions. Such actions, however, aren't merely a result of emotions and will power, but are also strongly influenced by the environment. One can simplify this and say that the actions taken have been influenced by three factors:

1. By the existing environment, which challenges, and thereby they makes struggle possible.

2. By the readiness of individual to react in a preferred manner (determined by astrology).

3. By the conscious, controlling responsibility of free will.

Under environment (point 1) we understand the social surroundings in the broadest sense (family origin, education, working conditions, social order, coincidence, etc.). These externally determined situations with their various possibilities for reaction are ascertainable and determinable for each person. We can determine the preference for certain ways of reacting (point 2) by astrological methods known to us. Finally there remains our free, conscious will (point 3) to act - the factor which is hardest to determine. Therefore the correct application of the prognosis consists of the question how will I act (free will), within my given situation and possibilities (environment), when I tend toward certain reactions and emotions (astro-prognosis). If one answers this question honestly, the variety of future possibilities will be limited and the future, in a certain sense, more predictable.

If one examines the own past actions by the use of a previously calculated astro-prognosis (prediction), it will become clear that astrology (the planet clocks) played an essential role in the realisation of an action. Thus one can conclude that these subconscious factors have more influence on our seemingly conscious actions than we generally accept as possible. Of course, this isn't numerically tangible and any clear-cut determination of the astrological facts is made difficult by the various factors almost always acting simultaneously.

A freely developing person will attempt to bring into harmony the factors: of the own will, readiness to act, and environment - thus realizing the own basic rhythm with the environment and guaranteeing the best chance of survival. If the interplay between these factors doesn't result in equilibrium, an obvious lack of success will be experienced. If, for example, the environmental factor should become preponderant, it could prevent a person from finding his/her optimal environment and thus prevent one's self-realization. When one is extremely dependent on external conditions (war, dictatorship, catastrophes, etc.) as well as under absolutely unfavourable or false environmental conditions, the astrological factors are of reduced importance, one's own rhythm becomes ineffective and a person suffers dissatisfaction and failure.

Our western technical civilization with its over-emphasis on abstract, numerical systems and divisions of time also represents a suppression of one's own feelings and being chimed in to the environment. A kosmogen analysis can ease the finding of one’s owns rhythm (cycle) and help clarifying contradictions between the individual and the intensions of the environment. They can also serve to create a more suitable environment, and consequently they represent an important means to the transformation of one's future. But the future is synonymous with self-development and self-development is the life process itself.

It should be pointed out again that the prognosis concerns tendencies of the character, which can, for example, be positively or negatively influenced by a corresponding environment, or by one's own will. The broadest identification with an astro-psychological analysis will be found among those people who were able to develop themselves unhindered during childhood. Under 40 years of age, various tendencies may not show their effects, especially those which have a relationship with the slower moving planets (for example Uranus, Neptune and Pluto).

By the established sciences there are always attacks against astrology. The mass media makes slanderous judgments by incompetent people, who pre-judge a subject which they've neither studied nor practiced. This is especially true with regard to the opponents of a science. In this polemical quarrel over astrology, many specialists make presumptions concerning a body of knowledge, to which they've never had the slightest access. Even if this affected attitude merely represents the fears of an insecure, materialistic mentality, it still also represents a dangerous misuse of power on the part of the established sciences. In a process of rejection by prejudice, astrology is equated with occultism, religious sects, the Bermuda Triangle and fraud. Unfortunately this situation is aggravated by the fact that the majority of those seeking aid by astrologists have rather erroneous and unclear ideas concerning astrology, and in most cases simply believe because of confirming experiences. For this reason I deemed it necessary to create theses Websites for general information about astrology. By not only reading your own prognosis, but by also reading the kosmogen Websites you can contribute to making astrology an openly recognised science.
